They need room to swing. ES Windows lists its French doors as out-swing, so the space just outside has to stay clear of furniture and planters. They also open only as wide as the two doors, while a multi-panel slider can cover a wider wall. If those trade-offs don't bother you, they're a classic look.
The French doors ES Windows lists, the ES-EL300 and ES-MX3000, are out-swing, and so is its ES-46T. CWS's hinged patio door page doesn't state a direction. Out-swing means the doors open onto the patio and leave the room side clear. If you need something different, tell us at the measure and we'll check the products.

Sidelites let a pair of doors fill a wider opening without making the doors themselves wider.
French doors open the full width between them and give a classic look, but they swing outward and need clear space. A slider stays inside its frame and can cover a wider wall with more panels. Some openings suit either one, so we go through both with you at the free in-home measure.
CWS lists up to 6-point locking on its hinged patio door, and ES Windows lists a 3-point lock with lever handles and deadbolts on its ES-EL300. A multi-point lock holds the door to the frame at several points instead of one. Your written quote names the exact door and its hardware.
